| CFA Level3 합격하신 많은 시험동기(?) 분들께서 행정절차를 진행중이실 걸로 보입니다. 마침 Designation 써도 된다고 나왔기에 도움되실까 하여, 그간 내용을 적어봅니다. 우선, 저는 회사의 Senior Fund Manager 에게 Supervisor 로서, Reference 를 부탁했고, 회사의 기존 CFA charter holder 한 분이신 팀장님께, Other Professional Colleague (기억이 가물가물)로서, Reference 를 부탁했습니다. 두 분의 relationship type, 성함, 이메일을 입력하고, Send E-mail 버튼을 눌렀습니다. 몇 일 기다렸는데, 두 분 중 한 분도 받았단 소식이 없길래 다시 들어가서 Send E-mail 버튼을 누르니, 다음 날 메일 도착하셨다고 알려주시더군요. 다음은 기존 CFA charter holder 한 분이신 팀장님께서 받으신 내용입니다. We manage about 260 billion KRW of capital committed from Tong Yang Life Insurance. We, as you can infer from our team name, only invest in overseas mutual funds or hedge funds. In a perspective of legal form, we are fund of fund managers. We sometimes discuss with ‘Russell Investments’ or ‘Man Investments’ to embody our central view about global macro, and then we allocate our funds to stocks, bonds and alternative assets. In accordance with established central view, we observe market movement whether it progresses as our central view. And sometimes we make an adjustment of our central view or consider temporary market impact for tactical asset allocation purposes. Tong Yang Life insurance evaluate our performance annually and set a new target rate for our team annually too. I participate in establishing central view about stock market, bond market, currency market… You name it. It is very similar to a stock broker in USA. However, my job description also involves investment consulting. When clients ask me about investment attractiveness of a specific Korean stock, I counseled them with my own investment opinion with regards to the growth possibility and valuation of the stock. With reference to my advice, a final decision was made by client. 2. Determining on specific Korean securities' appropriateness to be used as collateral (2008.9.1~2011.2.13) Detail) In this period, I worked as a credit risk manager. TongYang Securities Inc. did not lend money directly to our retail clients as it is a securities company. However, securities companies sometimes lend money by taking specific stocks or bond securities as collateral. In order to do the business, someone who can judge which securities could be used as collateral is needed. Among Korean equities, there were over 2,000 listed stocks and more bonds. I referred to both internal and outer credit ratings. In addition to that, I also considered market cap, trading volume, needs for borrowing in using that specific securities, and so on. If the value of collateral dropped sharply, it was a serious problem for client and for our company. When the value of collateral drops below the lending amount, we could not be satisfied by even diposing that specific securities. In that time, I should monitor the value of collateral securities and make several regulations about that business and sometimes report to our regulation authorities about lending amounts and securities used as collateral. Well-developed futures and options market of Korea were also problematic. They were leveraged products by nature. When the value of futures contracts or options contracts owned by clients drop below the leverage amount, TongYang Securities Inc should first pay to Korea Exchange on behalf of our clients. New CFA charterholders do not have to wait for an official confirmation letter; however, before using the CFA designation, they must check their online profile. If the CFA designation appears after their name in the profile that would be confirmation that the charter has been awarded. Passing the Level III exam is a significant achievement, but the designation cannot be used until all requirements are met.
