일단 X_bar(sample의 평균)는 확률변수라는 것은 알고 계시죠? 그러면 X-bar가 어떤 분포를 따르느냐? 라는 것이 중요한데요, X_bar라는 것이 1/n*(X_1 + X_2 +...+X_n)이고 이것은 일반적으로 population의 distribution에 따라 달라지겠죠. 1) population이 normal distribution인 경우는 X_1가 normal을 따른다는 것이고 그러면 X_bar도 normal 분포를 따릅니다. 2) population이 normal distribution이 아닌경우...(어떤 분포이든 상관 없습니다. uniform이건 삼각분포건, 찌그러진 분포건...) 이때 population에서 sample을 뽑아서 sample mean의 분포(sample의 분포가 아니라)를 보면 - n>=30의 경우는(sample size가 큰경우)는 sample mean(X_bar)는 normal 분포를 따르고 (이게 central limit theorem입니다.) - n<30의 경우는(sample size가 작은 경우)는 sample mean(X_bar)는 normal 분포가 아닌 어떤 다른 분포를 따릅니다. (population의 분포에 따라 다릅니다.) 그러므로... 질문주신 두가지 경우 모두... - The sample is large (n>=30) (이경우는 population이 normal이던 아니던 상관없이) - The sample is small (n<30), but the distribution of the population is normal or approximately normal. X_bar는 normal을 따르고 (& population의 variance를 몰라서 sample의 variance를 사용할 경우는) t-stat을 사용합니다. |
